At Local Motion, Amaya finds herself captivated by Michael, the keyboardist from The Hawaiian Style Band. Meanwhile, Kaia learns that Colin has invited Ruthie on a trip to Maui, prompting her to back out of the plans. Colin and Ruthie, unfazed by Kaia's decision, see it as a chance to bond more deeply. Later that night, Amaya and Michael celebrate Cinco de Mayo together. As they share dinner, Amaya can't keep her eyes off him, leading to a romantic kiss and a late-night walk on the pier. Thrilled by their connection, Amaya invites Michael over for drinks, and with Matt's assistance, she tidies up her place and washes her sheets. However, when Matt overhears Kaia discussing a health issue, he confronts her about Amaya, but Kaia urges him not to assume the worst. When he stumbles upon a magazine article on STDs, his concerns grow.
