The roommates are thrilled to learn they'll be vacationing in South Africa, but tensions are rising as David increasingly distances himself from the group. Melissa is particularly frustrated that David won't set aside their conflicts to enjoy their African adventure together. During an outing that involves rappelling down a 100-meter cliff, Melissa feels deeply moved by the beauty of nature, which enhances her spiritual outlook. Inspired by this experience, Jamie, Julie, and Melissa decide to confront David collectively, hoping to help him open up and fully embrace the moments they share in New Orleans.
