Kara travels to Washington in search of her lost crystal but finds herself apprehended after infiltrating a laboratory. There, she is injected with a truth serum laced with kryptonite, causing her to experience memories from an earlier visit to Earth. During that time, she shadowed Lara, Clark's biological mother, at the Kent farm. Just as Kara is about to be overwhelmed, Clark arrives to rescue her, but accidentally gets caught in the serum's effects when his heat vision ignites it.
