In the premiere episode of the new series, Paul Murton embarks on a journey through the stunning Outer Hebrides, exploring the islands of Eriskay, Barra, and Vatersay. While on Eriskay, he meets the locals and learns how the island’s isolation helped maintain its distinct culture for centuries, also uncovering the tale of how residents cleverly hid thousands of whisky bottles when a shipwreck occurred in 1941—an event that inspired the beloved film 'Whisky Galore.' Continuing to Barra, Paul discovers the world’s only beach airport, delves into the island's crofting traditions, and forages for cockles. Crossing the causeway to Vatersay, he joins fishermen as they catch lobsters and concludes his adventure at the breathtaking Barra Head, which has remained uninhabited for over a century.
