Episode Overview

A confrontation ensues when a white bus driver hits a black woman, igniting a riot. The driver is later found dead, while another body is discovered nearby. MGee and Gharty investigate the driver's death, whereas Lewis and Sheppard focus on the second victim. At the crime scene, Lewis uncovers a button that turns out to be from a police uniform. As MGee and Gharty debate the racial implications behind the driver’s death, interviews with bus passengers reveal crucial information. Meanwhile, Lewis and Sheppard seek a witness without backup, leading to Sheppard being attacked and losing her gun. Ballard is summoned back from her vacation, and Lewis demands the return of Sheppard's weapon from the locals in "Little Jamaica." A witness later identifies Hellriegel as the perpetrator behind the murder and the beating of the driver.
