When Syd reunites with an old medical school friend visiting from a rural African hospital, she is alarmed to see him exhibiting alarming symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus. This prompts the health department to enforce a quarantine at her clinic and at the Hansen home, where Joanie is hosting a raucous children's birthday party. Meanwhile, a worried Robbie sees his family on the news and rushes home to assist. Joanie, trapped with Robbie’s girlfriend—who was her childhood bully at summer camp—faces her past while Jim tends to a hefty bulldog with severe anemia.
