Episode Overview

Robbie invites Andi to stay with Heather while Burt heads to the hospital for surgery related to his condition. Meanwhile, Syd struggles to stitch a laceration during a procedure as she experiences a seizure. She encounters Carlos, a patient with a cleft palate, which prevents him from smiling. Syd asks another doctor to perform the surgery at no cost, but when she tries to inform her patient about the operation, she discovers that INS has detained him and his child. Jim attempts to calm Howard the bird, while Syd ultimately realizes she must perform the surgery herself due to the other doctor’s emergency.
