As England finds itself embroiled in war, James and Siegfried prepare to head off to their military units. On their final day at the practice, they experience a flurry of activity, leaving James frustrated as he hopes for a peaceful evening with Helen. To lift his spirits, Siegfried presents James with a thoughtful gift. Meanwhile, Mrs. Hall has an unexpected announcement for the group, and Tristan is taken aback by startling news from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
