Mr. Benn (1971)

Episode Overview

While wandering in the park, Mr. Benn notices a colorful kite soaring above. Inspired by the sight, he heads back to the costume shop, dons a spacesuit, and steps through the changing room door—landing in the cockpit of a spaceship ready for takeoff! Accompanied by two crew members, Mr. Benn journeys through the cosmos and discovers a planet overflowing with valuable gems. However, a forlorn man in tattered clothes warns them that the treasures will turn to stone once they leave. He suggests exploring another planet that offers everything for free. Although this new world has delightful food and goods, everything is rendered in dull black and white. Subsequent planets prove too noisy or excessively hot, leading Mr. Benn to realize that nothing compares to the comforts of home.
