Kabuki-Mono Keiji (2015)
Overview
Set against the backdrop of Tokugawa Ieyasu's victory at Sekigahara, the Uesugi clan's fortunes plummet as their holdings shrink drastically in Dewa Province. While many abandon Yonezawa, Maeda Keiji chooses to stay, living a reclusive life in a rundown hut and reflecting on his past. His son, Shinkuro, struggles to understand his father's passion for art and poetry instead of the warrior persona he is known for. As Keiji contemplates retirement, he proves his bravery when it matters most, ultimately inspiring Shinkuro to appreciate his father’s wisdom and unconventional lifestyle.
