General Moran wagers a spur from his railroad against a Texas horse ranch, claiming that a Kentucky thoroughbred can outrun a Texas quarter-horse in a 440-yard dash. To ensure his horse is ready to win the bet, he enlists the help of Bat to train his thoroughbred for the race.
