Farrell arrives at Whitbury Newtown Leisure Centre, responding to a job advertisement he saw in the newspaper. Gordon disapproves of Michael's presence but hands him an application form. Carole is disappointed that her birthday has gone unnoticed, prompting Michael to fabricate stories about a party, which the staff readily accept. However, Colin interjects with his honest perspective, leaving Gordon baffled as he begins to piece together the unfolding situation.
