London's Burning (1986)

Episode Overview

Blue Watch responds to an emergency involving a lift trapped between floors in a high-rise building. The situation becomes complicated when vandals have taken the winding lever, leaving the passengers, including a claustrophobic man and a complaining elderly woman, in a panic. Once they are rescued, the man bolts, and Vaseline asks Sue out on a date. Later, during a fire inspection at a local clothing factory, Malcolm becomes smitten with Samina, one of the employees. When a fire breaks out, Malcolm is distraught, especially as their pump engine malfunctions, delaying their response. Tragically, several workers, including Samina, perish behind a locked fire door. A few weeks later, the Watch cheers on Sicknote and Jean during a performance of South Pacific, erupting in applause when the fire curtain accidentally falls on Sicknote as he bows.
