Mt. Thomas finds itself overwhelmed by a rowdy group of football players, leading to a shocking incident of gang rape, and to everyone's dismay, Tom's stepson Daniel is caught up in the scandal. Amy is especially affected by the case, showing deep emotional turmoil. At the same time, Ben spirals into a dark place as he grapples with Susie's rejection, convincing himself that he has failed as a police officer. As he wrestles with thoughts of suicide, he ultimately decides on a more honorable path by resigning from the force and heading to Perth to be with his children.
