Episode Overview
As the Melbourne Cup unfolds in Mt. Thomas, the Heelers gather at the local pub with familiar faces like Richo, Celia Donald, and Compo Hayes. When Compo introduces his irate friend, Stacker Nicholl, as his closest ally, the Heelers grow wary. Their concerns deepen when they discover that this year's TAB revenue is significantly lower than last year's, leading Tom to suspect the presence of an illegal Starting Price bookie in town. Maggie and PJ start to believe Compo might be involved after Chris finds his trashed room at the Imperial and notices he’s missing. A quick search reveals Compo dozing in the cellar, but his story raises more questions than answers. When Stacker is apprehended, Nick uncovers that he frequents the new SP bookie, despite Stacker's denials. Meanwhile, Celia is increasingly anxious about her lost Filofax, known to contain her betting strategies.
