As PJ urges Maggie to ditch her date with Ben Stewart, they spot a car that has veered off the road. While calling for an ambulance, they uncover a shocking truth: the driver has been shot in the head. Intrigued, Ben believes this incident could be linked to the gun dealer they encountered the previous week. He’s eager to find a bullet to see if it matches the one that killed a police colleague of his two years ago, but the only bullet available is lodged in the driver’s head. When Det. Sgt. Peppy Romano from Homicide shows up, Ben’s behavior shifts unexpectedly, revealing a complicated past with Peppy that he and Maggie are left to speculate about. Peppy quickly identifies his main suspect as the driver’s new wife, pointing to the substantial life insurance policy as motive.
