Episode Overview
At seven in the morning, the phone begins to ring, delivering a heartbreaking message to the Heelers. Constable Greg Mason has been found shot dead on a rural road. Just half an hour earlier, he was tragically struck by a bullet to the head, with the scene indicating he had no chance to defend himself. Jack is out enjoying a morning ride when he discovers Greg slumped in his vehicle, his gun untouched and the letters P.E. written on a bloodied clipboard. The sight leaves Jack feeling nauseous. PJ and Robyn Taylor arrive to support Jack, but Robyn is visibly affected; it was supposed to be her shift, and she had convinced Greg to swap with her. Overwhelmed by guilt, she struggles to cope while PJ leads the team in their initial investigation, focusing on a reported robbery of $20,000 that same morning.
