Episode Overview

Tom chases down a local delinquent when the boy’s car skids off the road and crashes into Rabbit Creek. Heartbroken, Tom has known Tim Sullivan his entire life, and as he watches him fade away, he pleads with God for Tim’s forgiveness. Just as the ambulance arrives to take the body, Tim suddenly coughs and sits up—he's alive! Initially, the Heelers make light of the situation at Tom's expense, but for Tom and Maggie, both devout Catholics, this incident sparks a profound crisis of faith. While they regularly confront life and death, this time it’s Tom who has acted as God’s messenger. John's claim that Tom performed a miracle sends the town’s faithful searching for answers. Meanwhile, Tim struggles to come to terms with his unexpected second chance, feeling more like he's been given a sentence than a gift.
