Episode Overview

Ben becomes worried when one of his basketball players, Jay Holbrook, throws a fit during a game, kicking his mother in the process. The following day, news breaks that Jay has been involved in an assault at school, leading Ben to question where he's picking up such aggressive behavior. He cares for Jay's mother, Jeannette, and suspects they might be experiencing domestic violence. While Tess brushes off his concerns, Ben boldly confronts Jeannette's husband, Peter, at the pub regarding their son's actions. Meanwhile, after a romantic moment, Jack proposes to Letty during a park walk, but she's caught off guard and asks for time to think. Their moment is interrupted when Jack sees kids sneaking into a shed and discovers they're Jay and his sister, Jessie, hiding from their violent father. Jack alerts the authorities, and Ben rushes to the Holbrook home, only to find it in disarray—furniture overturned, broken dishes, and blood—yet no one is there
