Episode Overview
Fifteen-year-old Sam Baxter is caught breaking into her mother's store, leading her frustrated mother to consider pressing charges. Jo believes Sam is simply seeking attention and starts to buy into her claims, including that her troubles stem from her parents. When Sam's criminal father shows up, her mother wants nothing to do with him, but Sam is drawn to him. Ultimately, Sam avoids legal trouble but is assigned to help an elderly parishioner, Olive Hemmings, with chores. The two bond unexpectedly, restoring Jo's confidence in Sam. However, chaos ensues when Olive is discovered injured in her home after a break-in that resulted in the theft of $2000. An ambulance is called by a young woman, who turns out to be Sam, now staying with her adult boyfriend. Sam’s actions shock Jo, who is left reeling from the betrayal. Meanwhile, Jo's parents arrive to complicate matters even further.
