Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (2013)

Episode Overview

After a ten-year absence, Bourdain journeys back to Uruguay, discovering a nation undergoing significant social evolution while still holding onto remnants of its colonial heritage, particularly in its culinary traditions. Joined by Uruguayan chef and restaurateur Ignacio “Nacho” Mattos, they travel to Santa Lucia, where Nacho's grandmother prepares a traditional Italian family feast. They then enjoy a vibrant night in Montevideo with the local band Hablan Por La Espalda, indulge in drive-thru steaks, and conclude their adventure with a lively asado (barbecue) among friends on a picturesque island in Jose Ignacio.
