Episode Overview

David "Stringbean" Akeman, a Nashville performer and star of "Hee Haw," had an unusual quirk. The banjo player and comedian often carried $3,000 in cash in the pocket of his overalls, while stashing away ten times that amount at home—money reserved for emergencies. Sadly, for Akeman and his wife, that rainy day never arrived. In 1973, they were murdered, and their killers were never apprehended, leaving both hidden caches untouched.
