The McCoys make a concerted effort to persuade their cousin Orval, played by Sterling Holloway, that he isn't actually a jinx. Grampa, portrayed by Walter Brennan, along with Luke, played by Richard Crenna, and Kate, played by Kathleen Nolan, all join in on the attempt to change Orval's mind about his supposed bad luck.
