Episode Overview

During a session with his AA group, Shay Ryan shares his journey into alcoholism, which began after a traumatic robbery at the betting shop he ran. Unexpectedly, he reconnects with Madeleine, a woman he hasn't seen in 16 years, who reveals that he has a son named Otto. Shay is taken aback to learn that Otto has Down's syndrome and feels overwhelmed, leading him to avoid facing his son and resort back to drinking. Eventually, Shay acknowledges his failures as a father and resolves to quit alcohol. Six months sober, he holds onto hope for forgiveness from both Madeleine and Otto.
