First Peoples (2015)
S01E03 Asia
Episode Overview
As early humans migrated out of Africa and into Asia, they embarked on a journey filled with encounters and discoveries. Recent findings indicate that this exodus occurred much earlier than scientists previously believed. Along the way, they came into contact with a newly identified group of ancient humans known as the Denisovans. This remarkable revelation emerged just five years ago when researchers retrieved DNA from a small piece of a finger bone. Our ancestors interbred with the Denisovans, incorporating their genetic material into our own, which has played a crucial role in our survival and success as a species.
