Dr. Henglaar confronts lingering personal issues when his ex-fiancée, Chief Engineer Sou, boards the Independence with her husband, CMO Qu'Qul. Tensions escalate when Qu'Qul discovers his wife's unresolved feelings for Henglaar, prompting him to challenge the Tellarite doctor to a traditional Klingon contest for her heart.
