Episode Overview

As the crew of the Excelsior navigates the currents of the Briar Patch, they discover that the Tholians have a much stronger foothold in the area than they had anticipated. After a surprise attack on a planet's surface, Barrett is consumed by guilt, prompting his friends and coworkers to come together to support him. Concurrently, a diplomatic meeting with the Tholian Ambassador leads to more questions than it resolves, adding to the tension in their mission.
