Dr. Martin Nodel, a genius in genetics, often tests the patience of the university's students and faculty with his quirky habits. His son Paul, however, struggles to tolerate his father's oddities. Things take a drastic turn when Dr. Nodel reveals his groundbreaking research on introns—enigmatic genetic sequences he believes could be pivotal for the next phase of evolution. After a promising animal trial, he decides to experiment on himself, leading to astonishing yet alarming changes. As his intellect soars, he develops scales on his hands, unusual markings, and a strange hole in his back. He begins receiving enigmatic urges to gather 'subjects' for a secluded location. When he arrives with six students, including Paul and his girlfriend, they encounter armed soldiers and unravel a mystery that transcends the boundaries of human science.
