An enigmatic alien arrives in the town of Heart's Desire, offering to bestow incredible abilities upon four outlaws: Jake Miller, his brother Ben, and their accomplices, Frank and J.D. Kelton. Taking on the guise of a mild-mannered preacher—his first victim—the alien follows the brothers back to their hometown and grants them astonishing powers that render them nearly unstoppable. As the Keltons launch a crime wave, annihilating their foes with bursts of energy, Jake grapples with conflicting loyalties between his love for his family and his childhood sweetheart, Miriam, while questioning the true motives of this mysterious benefactor.
