The Mac 27, developed by Innobotics Corporation and portrayed by Nicolas Lea, is their most sophisticated android, designed to lack emotions to prevent the deadly failures seen in earlier models. However, this new prototype exhibits unsettling glitches and manages to escape during a debugging session, resulting in the deaths of a scientist and a security guard, while taking Celia, played by Nana Visitor, as a hostage. They flee to an abandoned warehouse where Celia reluctantly tends to Mac's damaged circuitry. During this time, he uploads visual data about previous android projects directly to her optic nerve. As Celia grows more at ease with Mac, she begins to notice human-like motivations behind his actions. As Innobotics' security forces close in, she tries to persuade Mac that his rebellion against his creators stems from emotions, suggesting he does possess feelings after all.
