Episode Overview

General contractor Tom Silva assists a homeowner in cleaning, staining, and sealing his mahogany deck in the backyard. Later, Tom joins host Kevin O'Connor, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey, and landscape contractor Roger Cook as they pose the question, "What is it?" Kevin travels to Chicago to aid a homeowner in preventing sewage from backing up into her basement by upgrading her flood control system. In the Ask This Old House loft, Tom and Richard present a viewer suggestion on effectively removing a wood plug from a hole saw.
