Samson's fear of fireworks becomes evident when Thomas discovers his anxiety. One night, the sound of Cyril the Fogman's warning device is misinterpreted by Samson as fireworks, causing him to panic and flee into the fog with Bradford, where they soon lose their way. As they wander, they inadvertently find themselves drawn toward the dazzling fireworks display at Ulfsted Castle, hosted by Sir Robert Norramby.
