Episode Overview
The episode opens with an elderly woman lamenting the theft of her television and questioning the lack of support for crime victims. A silent alarm at a local shop leads to a violent encounter, leaving the store owner critically injured; while one suspect is apprehended, the other escapes when Reed diverts to rescue a baby in a runaway stroller. The shooting leaves the family struggling financially, but assistance is delayed due to missing paperwork from a new program intended for violent crime victims. The officers interrogate a bail bondsman for leads on the second suspect and gather details from a neighbor before eventually arresting him after a pursuit. In another incident, young men attempt to rob a drive-in but their getaway car breaks down. Eventually, the necessary forms for victims’ families arrive, providing much-needed help. Amy Milner, the daughter of Martin Milner, plays the shop owner's daughter in this episode.
