Soaring over Los Angeles uncovers more than just Hollywood’s well-known filming locations. Several times a week, hopeful actors gather bright and early in a nondescript area of Burbank, where Central Casting operates, assisting them in securing background roles. While L.A. is often recognized as the heart of the entertainment industry, it also holds the origins of surfing and skateboarding, which emerged from the Dogtown neighborhood in Santa Monica. Aerial views reveal the often-overlooked history of the city's first major industry: oil, with one active oil derrick nestled in Cardiff Tower and another cleverly disguised under a vibrant structure near Beverly Hills High School.
