Fearing for his life after a failed attempt to frame Peter Parker, Alistair Smythe seeks out Spider-Man to share crucial intel on the Kingpin. Upon his arrival, Spider-Man is shocked to find Smythe transformed into a lethal spider-hunting cyborg. However, a glitch in his system triggers a vendetta against Norman Osborn, whom he blames for his father's demise. As Peter grapples with a deranged Smythe, he also faces his own turmoil upon learning that his beloved Mary Jane is now engaged to his best friend, Harry.
