Pablo is thrilled to hear his favorite comic book writer is coming to Birdwell Island, but his excitement turns to disappointment when she cancels her visit. Emily Elizabeth, Clifford, and the rest of the gang rally together to lift Pablo's spirits. Meanwhile, Tucker faces his own challenge as he attempts to conquer his fears to complete the Fire Dog Challenge. With support from his friends and a book featuring stories about previous fire dogs, Tucker discovers that feeling scared is a normal part of facing challenges.
