As the firm undergoes a makeover, the partners start the search for a new associate. Simultaneously, Stuart Markowitz's cousin, Eli Levinson, comes from New York to represent Sandy Morris, the troubled son of some old acquaintances facing murder charges related to a social worker. Eli's ex-secretary, Denise Iannello, arrives seeking a position with him once more. Kelsey is embroiled in a lawsuit against her own firm over sexual discrimination. Meanwhile, Becker finds the potential new hire, Jane Halliday, a devout Christian, captivating, although Kelsey has reservations about her joining the team.
