Episode Overview

David Chesterman, a thief, discovers that his girlfriend Maria is unfaithful with his partner, Carl Gault, who has fallen for her and schemes to dispose of David. Carl lures David with a tip about a wealthy corpse adorned with jewels. During the heist, a guard catches David in the act. Later, the guard is found dead, and David insists to Maria that he's innocent, but decides to lay low while leaving her with Carl. Carl tips off the police about David's whereabouts, leading to his arrest for murder. As David nears sentencing, Maria escapes from Carl by stabbing him and rushes to the courthouse, certain of David's innocence. She climbs onto a ledge, threatening to jump unless she can speak with David and share the truth about the robbery. When brought to her, David confesses to killing the guard, begging for her forgiveness as he faces the reality of prison.
