Episode Overview

John Perry, a bank robber, finds himself sentenced to 15 years of hard labor at a state prison lumber camp. Eager to escape, he befriends an alcoholic inmate named Doc, who oversees the prison infirmary and handles burial duties. Doc proposes a plan: if John funds a surgery for his granddaughter, he will help John break out. The plan involves hiding John in the coffin of the next deceased inmate, allowing him to escape once the guards leave. Everything seems to go smoothly until Doc fails to retrieve John. To his shock, John discovers that the corpse beside him is Doc himself, who had suffered a heart attack the previous night.
