On February 21, 2008, Santa Bárbara Airlines Flight 518, departing from Mérida, Venezuela, towards Caracas, tragically strays from its intended path and crashes into a mountainside shortly after takeoff. The disaster claims the lives of all 46 individuals aboard, including passengers and crew.
