On October 31, 2000, Singapore Airlines Flight 006 crashes into construction machinery at Taipei's Chiang Kai-shek International Airport as it tries to take off from an incorrect runway amid a raging typhoon. The tragic incident results in the loss of 83 lives among the 179 onboard. Subsequent investigations determined that the disaster stemmed from mistakes made by the flight crew.
