On August 23, 2005, TANS Perú Flight 204 faced a perilous situation while trying to land at Pucallpa Airport amid a fierce thunderstorm. Unfortunately, the aircraft went down in a muddy swamp, located four miles (6.4 km) from the airport. Investigations revealed that the pilots deviated from visual flight rules, a decision that contributed significantly to the tragic crash, as the plane was caught in a downdraft during the landing attempt.
