On January 8, 1989, British Midland Flight 92 tragically goes down on the M1 motorway embankment close to Kegworth, Leicestershire, UK, while making an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport. Out of the 126 passengers and crew on board, 47 lost their lives, and 74 others, including seven flight crew members, suffered significant injuries during the catastrophic event.
