On November 14, 1990, Alitalia Flight 404 tragically crashes into the Stalderberg Mountain woodlands near Weiach, Switzerland, while making its final approach to Zurich Airport. The aircraft descends too low, coming to rest 5.2 nautical miles (9.6 kilometers) short of the runway. The accident claims the lives of all 46 individuals aboard, comprising both passengers and crew.
