First Department (2020)

Overview

After spending a year away on a high-profile investigation, Yuri Bragin returns to St. Petersburg, only to discover that Vadim Maltsev, the head of the First Investigation Department, is set to retire. Many expect Bragin to be his successor, but he's not driven by ambition; he prefers the thrill of hands-on detective work. Soon after his return, he's dispatched on another assignment to a small town in the Leningrad region, where the recent murders of two girls, occurring just a week apart, have shaken the close-knit community. The tight bonds among locals make tracking down the killer particularly challenging.
