On April 19, 1999, Peter Dupas, a man with a long history of criminal activity, approached psychotherapist Nicky Patterson as a new client. Nicky, just 28 years old, invited Dupas into her home for what she believed would be a counseling session focused on gambling issues. However, the meeting took a dark turn when Dupas violently attacked her with a knife and proceeded to mutilate her body.
