Episode Overview

Jay chooses to go to an "Open Your Heart" seminar aimed at couples in distress, despite the fact that her relationship with Michael is thriving. She claims it's a matter of "prevention," but Michael cautions her against trying to fix what isn't broken. While at the seminar, they find themselves being pitted against each other and end up not speaking. It takes a mishap involving Kady at school for them to understand the true importance of communication in their relationship. Meanwhile, Michael wants to teach his kids about finances and encourages Jr. to start a business selling monkeyfish like he does. Instead, Jr. opts to get full refunds on the clothes Claire buys with her employee discount. When he gets caught, Claire loses her job, and Michael punishes Jr. by making him wear the very clothes he tried to return.
