Askeladd's crew pressed on in their bid to evade Thorkell. Meanwhile, Torgrim and his allies devised a scheme to betray their leader and align themselves with Thorkell, intending to take Canute along. When Torgrim finally acts on his plan, he confronts Askeladd, attempting to strike a deal for Canute's surrender. Just as the situation escalates, Thorkell makes his entrance, adding to the chaos.
