Joan feels disheartened when Sean leaves town on Valentine's Day, and her annoyance escalates when she can't reach him. In a surprising turn, Davis, who has just reconciled with his fiancée, unexpectedly kisses Joan and proposes ending his engagement to pursue her. Meanwhile, Maya, Toni, and William enjoy the day with their partners, while William anxiously searches for a card that conveys just the right level of affection. Additionally, Lynn takes on a role at a suicide hotline and ends up making plans with one of the individuals who called in.
