Episode Overview
Joan is overjoyed about her recent engagement, but her excitement dims when she discovers that Brock is opposed to having children. She resolves to focus on their present together, yet the topic lingers in her mind. Brock shares that he feels it’s unfair to bring children into the world if they aren't wholeheartedly wanted. Desperate for a change of heart, Joan suggests alternatives, but he maintains that they can still enjoy children through family and friends. After careful consideration, Joan realizes she wants her own kids. Although Brock claims they could have a family, she worries he might grow resentful. Their emotional breakup follows. Meanwhile, William, eager to propose before Joan can, asks Lynn to marry him, promising her financial support and a home together. When Lynn learns of Joan and Brock's separation, she chooses to keep it secret until after her wedding to William.
